IWC AMBASSADOR CATE BLANCHETT PLAYS A LEADING ROLE AT THE PRESENTATION OF THE 5TH FILMMAKER AWARD

H ΠΡΕΣΒΕΙΡΑ ΤΗΣ IWC CATE BLANCHETT ΠΡΩΤΑΓΩΝΙΣΤΕΙ ΣΤΗΝ ΑΠΟΝΟΜΗ ΤΟΥ 5ΟΥ FILMMAKER AWARD 

Η διακεκριμένη ηθοποιός και παραγωγός Cate Blanchett απένειμε το 5ο Filmmaker Award. Η τελετή βράβευσης πραγματοποιήθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια του 15ου Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Ζυρίχης σε ένα αποκλειστικό δείπνο που παρέθεσε η IWC στην ταράτσα του εστιατορίου Haute. Το βραβείο των 100.000 Ελβετικών φράγκων, προσφέρεται για την χρηματοδότηση Ελβετικών ταινιών που βρίσκονται στις φάσεις production ή post-production. Μερικές μέρες νωρίτερα, το 15ο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Ζυρίχης έκανε την επίσημη πρεμιέρα του με την ταινία “Η φωνή του τροπικού δάσους” του Niklaus Hilber, ο οποίος έχει κερδίσει στο παρελθόν το Filmmaker Award. 

Δεν υπάρχουν πολλοί επαγγελματίες στην κινηματογραφική βιομηχανία που να διαθέτουν την γοητεία της Cate Blanchett: Από την δεκαετία του 1990, η Αυστραλή ηθοποιός και πρέσβειρα της IWC έχει εμφανιστεί σε δεκάδες ταινίες και τηλεοπτικές σειρές. Το 2014, κέρδισε το βραβείο Όσκαρ Α’ Γυναικείου Ρόλου για τον πρωταγωνιστικό της ρόλο στην ταινία «Blue Jasmine», ενώ είχε ήδη κερδίσει το Όσκαρ Β’ Γυναικείου Ρόλου υποδυόμενη την Katharine Hepburn στην ταινία «The Aviator», το 2004. Η Cate Blanchett δεν είναι μόνο πανταχού παρούσα στον χώρο του κινηματογράφου, αλλά κάνει επίσης συχνές εμφανίσεις στο θέατρο και συμμετέχει σε διάφορα projects ως παραγωγός και καλλιτεχνική διευθύντρια. Ως Πρέσβειρα Καλής Θελήσεως στην Ύπατη Αρμοστεία των Ηνωμένων Εθνών για τους Πρόσφυγες (UNHCR) εστιάζει στα θέματα του αναγκαστικού εκτοπισμού και της ανιθαγένειας, συναντά εκπατρισμένες οικογένειες προσφύγων και έρχεται σε επαφή με κράτη και ηγέτες του Συμβούλιου Ασφαλείας των Ηνωμένων Εθνών. Οι σημαντικές επιτυχίες της Cate Blanchett αποτελούν πηγή έμπνευσης για πολλές γυναίκες που θέλουν να κατακτήσουν την κινηματογραφική βιομηχανία. 

Η Cate Blanchett απένειμε το 5ο Filmmaker Award κατά τη διάρκεια ενός αποκλειστικού δείπνου που παρέθεσε η IWC στο εστιατόριο Haute, το οποίο διοργανώθηκε στα πλαίσια του 15ου Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Ζυρίχης. Η Cate Blanchett φορούσε το Portofino Automatic 34, το νεότερο γυναικείο ρολόι που προστέθηκε στην θρυλική σειρά Portofino, και το μικρότερο αυτή τη στιγμή στο portfolio της Ελβετικής κατασκευάστριας πολυτελών ρολογιών. 

ΝΙΚΗΤΡΙΑ ΤΟΥ 5ΟΥ FILMMAKER AWARD ΕΙΝΑΙ Η ΤΑΙΝΙΑ «WANDA, MY MIRACLE»

Συνολικά 38 έργα διαγωνίστηκαν για το 5ο  Filmmaker Award. Η κριτική επιτροπή επέλεξε την ταινία «Wanda, My Miracle». Η ταινία αφηγείται την ιστορία της Wanda, μιας γυναίκας από την Πολωνία. Η Wanda, φροντίζει ένα ζευγάρι Ελβετών στη βίλα τους, κάνει δεσμό με τον μικρότερο γιο τους, τον Gregor, και μένει έγκυος. Η ταινία θα κυκλοφορήσει το 2020. Η σκηνοθεσία είναι της Bettina Oberli από τη Βέρνη, ενώ την παραγωγή έχουν κάνει οι Lukas Hobi και Reto Schaerli, οι οποίοι εκτός από το 5ο  Filmmaker Award, κέρδισαν και από ένα Portugieser Automatic (IW500703) από την IWC Schaffhausen.

H πρεμιέρα της ταινίας «Η φωνή του τροπικού δάσους» του Niklaus Hilber υπογράμμισε τη σπουδαιότητα του Filmmaker Award. Η εξαιρετική αυτή ταινία σηματοδότησε την επίσημη έναρξη του 15ου Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Ζυρίχης στις 26 Σεπτεμβρίου. Το έργο αφηγείται την συναρπαστική ιστορία του Ελβετού ακτιβιστή Bruno Manser ο οποίος στάθηκε στο πλευρό του λαού των Penan για τη διάσωση του τροπικού δάσους στη Μαλαισία και κέρδισε το Filmmaker Award το 2017. «Είμαι υπερήφανος που το Filmmaker Award έδωσε τη δυνατότητα σε αυτή την ταινία να προσεγγίσει το ευρύ  κοινό το οποίο της άξιζε. Οι προκλήσεις που χρειάστηκε να αντιμετωπιστούν για την υλοποίηση αυτού του φιλόδοξου έργου ξεκαθάρισαν ότι το βραβείο αυτό έχει δημιουργηθεί για Ελβετούς κινηματογραφιστές,» εξηγεί ο Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO της IWC Schaffhausen.

ΤΟ  FILMMAKER AWARD ΥΠΟΣΤΗΡΙΖΕΙ ΤΗΝ ΥΛΟΠΟΙΗΣΗ ΑΡΚΕΤΩΝ ΤΑΙΝΙΩΝ

Το Filmmaker Award, το οποίο συνοδεύεται από το ποσό των 100,000 ελβετικών φράγκων, καθιερώθηκε από τον Οργανισμό Χρηματοδότησης Κινηματογραφικών Ταινιών της Ελβετίας. Εκτός από τους συνιδρυτές του Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Ζυρίχης, Nadja Schildknecht και Karl Spoerri, μέλος του οργανισμού είναι και ο CEO της IWC, Christoph Grainger-Herr. Το βραβείο συμπληρώνει το κενό που υπάρχει στην χρηματοδότηση ελβετικών ταινιών, στοχεύοντας σε έργα που βρίσκονται σε φάσεις production ή post-production.

On 5th October 2019 in Zurich acclaimed actor and producer Cate Blanchett has presented the 5th Filmmaker Award. The award ceremony took place during the 15th Zurich Film Festival at an exclusive IWC Schaffhausen private dinner at rooftop restaurant Haute. The award, which is worth CHF 100,000, supports Swiss film projects that are in the production or post-production stage. A few days earlier, the Zurich Film Festival was officially opened with “Die Stimme des Regenwaldes” by Niklaus Hilber, a previous winner of the Filmmaker Award. 

Few individuals in the film industry possess the appeal of Cate Blanchett: Since the 1990s, the Australian actor, who is also an IWC brand ambassador has appeared in dozens of feature films and TV series. In 2014, she won Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her leading role in “Blue Jasmine”, having already won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in “The Aviator” in 2004. Blanchett is not only omnipresent on the silver screen; she also regularly appears on stage and is involved in various projects as a producer or artistic director. She also works tirelessly with charitable organisations and other partners to improve society or the environment. As a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR, she is focused on the issue of forced displacement and statelessness, meeting with refugee families overseas and addressing states and corporate leaders at the UN Security Council. Blanchett’s many successes also inspire countless women who want to gain a foothold in the film industry. She presented the 5th Filmmaker Award at an exclusive IWC Schaffhausen private dinner at the restaurant Haute, which was held as part of the 15th Zurich Film Festival (ZFF). She was spotted wearing the new Portofino Automatic 34, the latest women’s watches added to IWC’s iconic Portofino line and currently the smallest in the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer’s portfolio.

“WANDA, MY MIRACLE” WINS THE 5TH FILMMAKER AWARD

A total of thirty-eight projects had applied for the 5th Filmmaker Award. The jury finally selected “Wanda, My Miracle” as the winner. The film tells the story of a Polish woman named Wanda. While looking after an older Swiss couple in their villa, she embarks on an affair with their youngest son Gregor and unexpectedly becomes pregnant. The film will be released in 2020. Directed by Bettina Oberli from Bern, it is produced by Lukas Hobi and Reto Schaerli, who, in addition to the Filmmaker Award, were also presented with a Portugieser Automatic (IW500703) from IWC Schaffhausen. The premiere of “Die Stimme des Regenwaldes” (“Paradise War”) by Niklaus Hilber likewise underscored the importance of the Filmmaker Award. This highly anticipated film had officially opened the ZFF on 26 September. Telling the gripping story of Swiss environmental activist Bruno Manser, who fought alongside the Penan people to save the rainforest in Malaysia, this project won the Filmmaker Award in 2017.

FILMMAKER AWARD HELPS TO BRING PROJECTS TO THE BIG SCREEN

The Filmmaker Award, which comes with CHF 100,000, was established by the Verein zur Filmförderung in der Schweiz (Association for Film Funding in Switzerland). As well as the co-founders of the ZFF, Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri, this association also includes Ringier CEO Marc Walder and IWC CEO Christoph Grainger- Herr. The prize closes a gap in Swiss film funding by targeting projects that are in the crucial production or post-production phase.
