What is the ideal hair colour for your type?

What hair colour looks best on me? This is a common question to your hair colorist. You want to know how you should choose the right hair colour. It seems to be quite complicated and quite often you get confused. Let me give you the big picture and make your life easy so as to make the right decision.

A rule of thumb is that your natural hair and skin colour is the best fit for you! Therefore, you should go with your natural colour, either 2 to 3 tones lighter or darker to your natural hair colour.

Find out your colour season so as to determine your colour palette.

There are four colour seasons: winter, summer, autumn and spring. Determine the season that you belong to based on your personal characteristics in order to better understand how you should choose the ideal hair colour.

Generally speaking summers and winters are identified as cool seasons though autumns and springs as warmer colours.

Now that you have identified yourself in the colour season that you belong to, let’s see the ideal hair colour for each colour season. As we previously said, we should choose a hair colour that is 2 to 3 tones lighter or darker from our natural hair colour.

More specifically, you should identify your colour season so as to better understand the colour palette that best suits you.

Should you find yourself in Winter season choose a colour from the cool colour palette and avoid red tones or to bleach your hair. Also, stay away from highlights given that they tend to get reddish after a while. Choose ash tones and never mix them with any warm colour.

Have you identified yourself as Summer? The cool colour palette is ideal for you and more specifically any ash tone. Should you are brunette or blonde go for all related ash tones. Avoid any warm colours or gold tones. Tip: Should you dye your hair at home and your hair colour comes out greenish add “Perla” colour and I am sure you will get the ideal hair tone.

Is your colour season Autumn? Most often you have natural red highlights should you are or you were blonde. It seems that you were golden blonde. Therefore, you should go for warm colours and avoid any ash tones because they will make your skin look pale. Red, warm brown or golden blonde seem to be idea for you.

So, you ideantified yourself as Spring? It seems that your natural colour is warm blonde either brown or golden blonde. Warm tones are the ideal ones, no matter the colour you finally choose. As in autumn season, avoid any cool or ash tones. Thus, if you decide to stay blonde, go for a golden blonde or any warm blonde tone. Should you choose a brown tone, go for a warm brown. If you are blonde or you have a brown colour and you are ready for a change, go for a red related colour.

You should now have identified your colour season and you have already decided on your new hair cclour. I gave you the big picture and some tips, you should consider that you are unique with unique characteristics that you should also take into consideration before your final decision. Be creative, experiment, you may try different shades or different colour styles like ombre, balayage, mermaid hair, reverse ombre or any other. You may try some hair colour applications before taking your final decision on your new hair colour!

Best of luck! I am sure that you will look terrific!
